Vytautas Magnus University is seeking intelligent, talented, and ambitious people who view themselves as citizens of the world. Each year university offers scholarships to prospective master’s degree students.

These scholarships cover full tuition fee for one semester, one year or entire study period at VMU.

Dora Plus grant for Master`s students

Dora Plus Sub-Action 2.1 Support for international master`s students

  • The purpose of the grant
    To support international master’s students studying in Estonia, thereby contributing to the exchange of knowledge, to make the local study process more internationalized and to increase the amount of highly educated workers in Estonia in the long run.
  • Support is offered to talented international master’s students enrolled in English-taught master’s programs. The funding is provided by the European Regional Development Fund. The implementer of the activity is the agency of education internationalization at the Archimedes Foundation.
  • Grant amounts
    The scholarship is 350 euros per month. The scholarship could be awarded for one academic year, i.e., 10 calendar months at a time and to those who are studying full-time.
  • How to apply?
    First-year international master level students: the grant can be applied for during the application process to the University of Tartu, thus the applicants interested in receiving the grant, please tick the appropriate box in your application in Dream Apply system. There will be no later application for the first-year students. The grants are allocated based on admissions’ results, thus based on admission’s ranking. The applicants who are awarded the grant will be informed either at the time of announcing admissions results or a bit later.
  • In the year 2020/2021 the grants were districted as follows:
    Faculty of Social Sciences – 31
    Faculty of Science and Technology – 27
    Faculty of Arts and Humanities – 8
  • Second-year international master level students can apply HERE(application form will be opened on 24th of September 2020). Deadline 1 October 2020.
  • All 2nd year students will be informed by e-mail when the call is open. Only scholarship holders will be notified by e-mail.
  • The selection process is headed by vice dean of a respective faculty at UT.

  • The English taught programs are listed here, yet the Dora grant is applicable only for those programs that have studies carried out in Estonia, not abroad or in the format of e-learning. 


Scholarship for studies

Applications for Bachelor’s and First level of professional higher education studies will be accepted from students who have successfully completed at least one academic year of studies (at their home higher education institution or at a Latvian higher education institution, if they have already been studying in Latvia).

Scholarships for Bachelor’s and Master’s studies are granted for one academic year – a time period up to 10 months (for PhD students – up to 11 months).

If a student wants to continue her/his studies in Latvia for one more year, she/he must re-apply for the Latvian scholarship. The Latvian scholarship can be awarded to one individual for not more than two consecutive terms.


An applicant has to register in the system and make a profile with a unique login and password. The online application form is available here. After that an application form can be filled in online and the necessary documents can be attached there as well. The system will require that the following documents are uploaded:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV). Please use the Europass template
  • Letter of motivation (including activities outside studies related to the study field in Latvia or in the home country, e. g. work in professional organisations, participation in scientific conferences, international projects)
  • Photocopies of a transcript of records of the last two study semesters (if studies are not completed) or diplomas of higher education and supplements
  • For students of RSU: please request the transcript of records by submiting the application form to Student Services
  • Copies of two letters of recommendation from academic staff members, signed within the last six months
  • The copy of a letter of the relevant Latvian higher education institution (HEI letter), confirming the foreigner’s opportunity to study in the chosen study programme and informing about the language of instruction (Latvian or other EU official language)
  • For students of RSU: please contact Ms Dina Eglīteto receive this letter
  • Study planfor duration of the scholarship
  • A copy of a certificate or other document certifying the language proficiency required for studies (this is also stated in the HEI letter)
  • Copy of an ID (identification document) or a passport

All documents which are not in Latvian or English, shall be translated into Latvian or English.

Financial provisions

The amount of the Latvian state scholarship for studies is:

  • for Bachelor’s, Master’s and First level of professional higher education studies students –500 EURper month
  • for PhD students –670 EURper month

All study programmes in English at Latvian higher education institutions are not free of charge. The Latvian scholarship holder can use the scholarship to cover the tuition fee or for accommodation and meals. Please take into account that the amount of the scholarship is not enough to cover all expenses in Latvia.

  • The Latvian scholarship cannot be awarded concurrently with other scholarships.
  • Travel expenses from a home country to and from Latvia are not covered by the Latvian scholarship.
  • Scholarship holders are required to make their own arrangements for insurance coverage.
  • Scholarships for applicants from one country may not exceed 10 % from the total grant amount for study scholarships.

Czech Republic

Scholarships for Indian Students in 2021/2022

Based on the bilateral agreement with India, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi is announcing scholarships for the academic year 2021/2022 to graduate or postgraduate students from India for study stay at public universities in the Czech Republic.

Scholarships are designed for:

  1. university students or

    2. college students or

    3. graduates or

    4. Ph.D. candidates (exceptionally for academic staff members)

who wish to undertake study or research visit to one of the Czech public institutions of higher education

The scholarship includes:

• up to 10 months of research/study stay at one of the Czech public institutions of higher education in the Czech Republic free of charge,

• 9,000 CZK (approx. 400 USD) per month for graduate students,

• 9,500 CZK (approx. 420 USD) per month for postgraduate students,

• accommodation at the student dormitory for discounted price,

• breakfast, lunch and dinner provided at the student dormitory for discounted price,

  • no visa application fee



There are number of scholarships, grants and bursaries are available which can help international students financially to study in this country. The Germany government, corporations, universities, and some private organizations have subsidized the education in Germany; therefore, state-funded institutions charge no tuition fee not only for the native students but also for international students studying in Germany.   1. DAAD WISE Scholarship Program

Students pursuing Bachelors, Integrated or Dual programs from selected Indian universities are eligible to apply for this program. This scholarship program focuses on international students along with doctorate candidates. It welcomes applications from students who have completed their Bachelors/Masters in their home country and are looking for higher studies. The eligibility criterion for the program is having an above average academic record along with a keen interest in political topics.

Candidates belonging to developing countries receive preference. The scholarship reward amount depends on the study objective. It can either be tuition fee reimbursement up to € 500 or a monthly stipend of € 1,100 for 3 years.

  1. Heinrich Boll Scholarships

This program is for students who have successfully cleared the university entrance qualification. International applicants can choose any subject from its Masters or PhD courses and study in Germany.

The scholarship amount for Masters Courses is of €850 per month along with additional individual allowances. It also covers the tuition fee in some cases.  For PhD studies, the reward is €1000 per month with €100 travel allowance per month. Students receive the amount for a regular period of study.

  1. Kofi Annan MBA Scholarships

The Kofi Annan scholarship is for emerging leaders belonging to developing countries. It offers a 2-year Masters in Management (MIM) course or full-time MBA education for a year. To apply, a student must hold a Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record. Other requirements include English proficiency and a desire to contribute towards the growth of his/her home country.

Selected candidates receive full tuition fee for the courses i.e., €25,000 for MIM students and €43,500 for MBA students. The program also supports visa, travel, housing, networking, and insurance.

  1. Goethe Goes Global Scholarships

The Goethe Goes Global Scholarship is an innovative project for Master courses. The major aim of the program is to enhance and support the academic career of the students. With this scholarship, selected candidates will get to study at the Goethe University in Germany.

There are about 20 scholarships available for international students every year. Thus, foreign students who have completed their Bachelor’s degrees are fit to apply.  The University offers €1,000 per month as a scholarship amount to students till the end of the Master’s course.

Female candidates applying for a full-time MBA course in European School of Management and Technology (EST) are eligible for this scholarship.   1. The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship

Another option is the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung scholarship, which seeks to promote social democracy through academic financial assistance. The scholarship is available for foreign applicants who are studying or doing their doctorate in Germany at a state or state-recognized university of applied sciences. These students are expected to have above-average academic achievements. This is a good option for those in the fields of social sciences, politics, or humanities.

To be eligible for this scholarship you must demonstrate exceptional German language skills even if the course you are taking is in English. The places are limited since only 40 people per year, coming from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, will be taking this funding programme. Scholarship holders in undergraduate courses will receive a monthly amount of 830€. Those in master’s degree programmes will receive 850€ per month as well as health insurance costs.

  1. Erasmus Scholarship Programs in Germany

UGAM Legrand Scholarships

The scholarship is designed for Indian students to pursue a master’s programme in France in the field of management, science, and engineering. The students with an annual family income that is below 10 lakhs and children of armed forces personnel (preference will be given to children of martyrs) are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
